Why you should get your car washed regularly

Timothy Albrite

Who doesn’t love the look, feel, and scent of a freshly washed car?

While a car wash means having a clean vehicle and escaping the famous ‘wash me please’ writing on your windows, it is also a way of preserving the condition of a vehicle and caring for it.

In fact, a car wash should be considered as part of scheduled maintenance and not a passing afterthought. If your car is looking cleaner, not just the exterior but the interior as well, it will help declutter your mind. It’s surprising how a clean car can affect the way you feel about it.

Additionally, car washes can protect your investment. A car wash helps protect the paint on your car by clearing away acid rain, dirt, and road salt that can cause rust and corrosion to your car. It also keeps your car looking newer.

Getting a car wash also contributes to road safety. Washing your car clears the debris and dirt build-up from windows, mirrors, lights and tires which are important parts of the car’s safety. Clear mirrors and windows and clean headlamps and tail lights mean that you can see potential dangers and that other drivers can see you.

During rough weather, the last thing you want to deal with is additional hazards that could have been easily prevented with regular car washing.

How Often Should You Wash Your Car?

A simple rule of thumb is that when dirt is visible on your car’s exterior, it’s time for a wash. This makes sense and falls in line with any other sort of routine cleaning we do in our homes and offices.

Depending on your local climate, weather, and specific environmental factors, a weekly car wash is a good starting point. Once you’re in the routine, you’ll be able to get a better gauge of how quickly dirt builds up, and this can shift depending on the season.

Show some love to you car and get it washed.
