AA Kenya Kicks Off the 2026 Best Driver Challenge

By Timothy Albrite

AA Kenya is set to host the fourth edition of the Best Driver Challenge in 2026. This is a national driving competition organised together with the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), aimed at testing driving skills while promoting safer roads across the country.

The challenge first came to Kenya in 2023, giving local drivers a chance to compete and even represent the country internationally. Winners have gone on to compete on the global stage, with past finals held in countries like Austria (2023) and Belgium (2024).

In 2025, the competition took a new turn with the introduction of the African Best Young Driver contest by FIA Region I. This was the first competition of its kind focused only on  Africa. Kenya hosted the debut finals in Naivasha and brought together young drivers from across the continent. They were tested on real-life driving skills, from handling emergencies to understanding traffic rules. Kenya’s own Victor Maina Kabura emerged as the winner.
