Fuel prices drop in latest EPRA review

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new fuel prices for the October-November period. The pump prices for this period have been reduced by KES 8.18 for petrol, KES 3.54 for diesel, and KES 6.93 for Kerosene. 

This price drop is attributed to the decreased weighted average cost of imported refined petroleum products.

This means that for the people in Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at KES 180.66, KES 169.06, and KE 151.39 respectively. 

In Mombasa, the pump prices for Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene are KES 177.42, 164.82, and 148.15 respectively.

Kisumu residents will get fuel at KES 180.68 for petrol, KES 168.44 for Diesel, and KES 151.82 for Kerosene.

In Nakuru, Super Petrol will retail at KES 179.87, Diesel at KES 167.63, and Kerosene at KES 151.01 per litre.

In Eldoret, Super Petrol will retail at KES 180.68, Diesel at KES 168.45 and Kerosene at KES 151.82

“The prices are inclusive of the 16% VAT in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 & the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” the statement by EPRA read. 

Taking a closer look over the past months, we note that  Since April 2023, there has been a notable upward trend, with prices steadily climbing until they peaked in October 2023. However, since December 2023, there has been a gradual decline, culminating in the latest reduction announced by EPRA.
